This week we are looking at how our politics can become an idol, out of Mk 10:25-35. Particularly in these times, when our political choices feel so consequential, it’s easy put more trust in Caesar than in God to solve the problems around us. And when we do, it becomes that much easier to compromise our faith, damage our witness, and treat our neighbor like an enemy. Two postures Jesus’ took can help us keep free from this idol’s grasp: Jesus took a stand but didn’t align with a side, and for Jesus, winning came through serving, not coercion.
