X Words - Ep. 10

This Sunday we are wrapping up the series with the 10th Word: Honor in the heart, out of Exod. 20:17 (“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”). This seems so simple and almost a given, but it challenges us to examine the inner workings of our hearts as we consider all of the commandments. It takes us from just doing the right thing (or avoiding the wrong things) to having the right heart, intention, character, and will. It dovetails with Jesus’ sermon on the mount and greatest commandments in that it calls us to contentment in God alone and a love of neighbor that extends to how we perceive what is theirs.
