So this year’s saint is none other than Mr Rogers, and the message will be around the power of gentleness: “Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone” (Prov. 25:15). Sometimes when you want to be heard above the noise, you have to get really quiet. Rogers did this well, offering unconditional acceptance to generations of viewers who he proclaimed to be special, simply because they are made in God’s image.
